Behavioral Health Equity: Responding to the Needs of our Nation’s Veterans

Even though Veterans Day has passed, I would like to ask did you spend time with words of encouragement, did you provide a hug, visit VA hospital and or volunteer.   These are gestures one should do throughout the years and not just Veterans  Day.

Everyday, my local spiritual father, sends me words of encouragement and I send them right back.  These word bless me just as much as it blesses him.

Below is a blog shared by By: Stacey Owens, M.S.W., LCSW-C, Military and Veterans Affairs Liaison, Center for Mental Health Services

On Veterans Day, we take time to honor former service members for their willingness to make sacrifices for our nation. Support for all our nation’s Veterans is a prominent component of the wide-ranging services provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). An emphasis on Veteran behavioral health (mental health and substance use disorder) care is rooted in the agency’s recognition of the unique needs of this population and the collective national commitment to support those who served. If you ask a group of Veterans why they chose to serve, you will hear various responses. Veterans may describe a role model who served in the military, a family legacy of service, feelings of patriotism, a sense of duty to protect others, as well as unique opportunities that military service affords. Those opportunities might include pursuing new experiences, traveling to new places, gaining job skills for the future, and financial security. In fact, the military is among our nation’s most diverse employers.

Beyond the Bowl: How Soul Bowls Uses Working Capital to Meet Demand
When you’re just starting your business, you might be able to get by with older equipment. But as you prove your concept and increase demand? That’s when you need something new that can keep up!

Connecticut-based restaurant Soul Bowls knows exactly how this feels. Combining the "Chipotle-style" concept of customizable bowls with soul food flavors, owners Willie Fair, Malik Golden, and Chef Hugann Thomas offer a unique and fast-casual dining experience.

Initially, to keep costs down, they relied on the existing kitchen equipment in the space, which needed to be replaced frequently as demand grew. With a working capital loan through Pursuit, they were able to purchase new, reliable equipment that keeps them efficient.

Soul Bowl's success story isn't just about delicious food. It's about strategically using financing to achieve their dreams. Whether you’re starting a new business or taking advantage of a growth opportunity, a working capital loan can add the boost you need to fund your ambition. Contact us today to see what's possible for your business!

My questions to you is:  How many of you had to step of the box to make things happen and they worked out in your favor.

Due to Inclement Weather, Read this

For those us in the East Coast, have been advised of Heavy Rain & Strong Winds.
This Alert is for most of us receiving our electric bills through PSE&G. So Be Prepared accordingly

Preparing for Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

After last weekend’s wintry weather, PSE&G is once again prepared for another storm that is forecasted to bring gusty winds and heavy rain throughout our service area this week. The weather system could bring rainfall of more than three inches in certain areas and flooding is anticipated. Hazardous wind gusts (40-60 mph) are also expected which could potentially topple trees, bring down branches on wires and cause outages. We encourage you to take the time now to prepare.

PSE&G is committed to bringing you safe and reliable service, regardless of extreme weather conditions. We prepare year-round for extreme weather to maintain reliable service for our customers. Eleven years after Superstorm Sandy raged across the East Coast, PSE&G continues to work to protect customers’ utility service from the damaging impact of extreme weather by strengthening and upgrading our infrastructure. Our investments in new infrastructure have helped us remain one of the nation’s most reliable utility companies.

We are closely monitoring this latest weather front. We have crews scheduled 24/7 who will work to safely restore any outages as quickly as conditions will allow.

Be safe:

  • Secure outdoor furniture, decorations and objects. These items could pose a risk during storms as strong winds can turn them into projectiles, endangering people, property and even interrupting power supply.
  • Review our storm preparation tips and flood safety tips to learn how to be safe before, during and after a storm.
  • Stay away from downed wires; they should always be considered live. Stay at least 30 feet away from downed lines. Don’t go near the pole or anything touching the line, and don't drive over downed wires. Immediately contact PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734), or through our mobile app or website, to report downed wires and dial 911 if an immediate hazard exists.
  • Downed wires can potentially be hidden in standing water. Be aware that electric current passes easily through water, so if you encounter large pools of standing water, stop, back up, and choose another path.
  • To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, do not run any gasoline-powered generators in a garage or other enclosed space.
  • If you (or a member of your household) rely on electricity to operate life-sustaining equipment, please notify PSE&G. To learn more, visit pseg.com/life or call 1-800-436-PSEG (7734).

Know how to report and track an outage:

Download the PSE&G mobile app and log in using your My Account password to report and track an outage, including restoration times, crew status and more.

Register for MyAlerts to report outages and get text/email updates about the status of your outage. Just text "REG" to 4PSEG (47734). Report an outage by texting "OUT" to 4PSEG.

Visit our Outage Center to report an outage, view our Outage Map for outage information and restoration times. You can also access important safety information to help you before, during and after a storm.

Log in to My Account to report an outage or view outage status.

Report a power outage and check the status of an outage with an Amazon Alexa device or app.

Call PSE&G's Customer Service line at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734).

There are so many times we as women are diligently either working to increase our credit score or securing loans are credit cards.   Remember as you search there are creditor in the background looking into your credit. WHY, to see if you are credit worthy of the credit card, (LOC)  Line of Credit  or loan in which you are seeking.   So remember, this is happen when the organization you are seeking to secure one.  Below are inquiries that may or may not affect your credit.

There are two different kinds of credit inquiries:

  1. Hard inquiries – Hard credit inquiries, also known as “hard pulls”, occur when a lender or creditor checks your credit report to evaluate your creditworthiness during a credit application process.  These inquiries may impact your FICO® Score, which considers how recently and how frequently you apply for credit.

  2. Soft inquiries – Also known as “soft pulls”, these are reviews of your credit file, including reviews of existing accounts by lenders, prescreening inquiries by prospective lenders, and your requests for your annual credit report. These do not impact your FICO Score.

FICO will provide you with a tracing of your credit monitoring for FREE if you sign up.  Yes, it can be annoying but at least you know when someone or company is reviewing your credit.
