Thomasina Perkins-Washington, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Principal Publicist of Capitol Public Relations, LLC (CPR) and a Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Fellow, as well as held various positions working with the US Government as a Civilian and Contractor. Ms. Perkins-Washington has had a successful career as an Administrator, Financial/Budget Analyst, Foreign Military Sales and Community Outreach Management Analyst in which she has gained experience and expertise in managing large and small budgets, planning and executing public relations strategies, events, and handling multiple administrative duties with grace and precision.
Her unique no nonsense approaches to business both in the United States and Internationally; sense of style and passion for Sports and Entertainment, as well as her keen sense of direction as it pertains to Athlete, Artist and Corporate Management, most specifically in the areas of Media/Public/Community Relations, inspired her to establish her firm Capitol Public Relations, LLC. Ever evolving Ms. Perkins-Washington positions Capitol Public Relations (CPR), realizing every organization large or small has a story to tell the public that can positively impact its bottom line; CPR was created to provide Public/Media/Community services in a Business to Business as well as individual format. CPR has carved a unique niche’ in the community relations realm working with several DC metro area headquarters base, National and International non-profits, creating win/win solutions and opportunities for both the organizations and CPR clients, she and her staff serves.
As a Public Relations Manager to professional athletes in the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Soccer (MLS), as well as high profile Artists/Entertainers, Designers, Authors, Television and Radio networks, production companies and heads of corporations both for profit and nonprofit entities; she uses her sense of “to whom much is given; much is required” to foster attitudes of community service in these “celebrity” and “executive level” clients by finding what matters most in their worlds and is able to create value added situations Globally. Ms. Perkins-Washington has dedicated a good portion of her talents over the years to assisting music artists and their management teams create strategic public and media relations campaign strategies as it relates to project releases from singles to full albums. She is involved in artist development and sustainability creative processes for both established artists such as CeCe Peniston, Lil’ Mo and Traci Braxton as well as those entering the music arena, she has aligned herself with like-minded music professionals to ensure artists are empowered and educated. Thomasina has signed on as the principle publicist on the upcoming AOM (America’s Original Music) digital platform.
She is a non-traditional Publicist in that she offers a full complement of development services. Thomasina has entered into the world of film and television first appearing on her client’s family WEtv Reality Show “Braxton Family Values”, network news segments and later blending her talents into several production roles; such as casting, promotions, strategic project planning and execution. Her first feature film credits with Octet Productions distributed as BET Original Films (“Angrily Ever After “and “ ‘Twas the Chaos Before Christmas” released in 2019) and boasting her work on a Contender campaign Thomasina Perkins-Washington, CEO/Principal Publicist Bio for an Oscar Nomination with the film “In the Life of Music”, 2020. In her role as Vice President of Public Relations within the newly formed Black Global Entertainment (BGE), she is working with a team of professionals developing content from the firms partner Lafeme Fatale Publishing’s authors published books for film, television and streaming platforms. Ms. Perkins-Washington has been a periodic contributor to DC Life Magazine’s sports and entertainment events section and Just Right Magazine, appearing on the Cover of the August 2018 issue. She has also appeared on European runways in her youth. Ms. Perkins-Washington is a member of several organizations and associations to include: Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM), Alliance for Women in Media (National Capital Area Chapter), an Official NFLPA (National Football League Players Association) Marketing Representative, Hip Hop Sisters, NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment) and The Recording Academy (DC Grammy Chapter).
Thomasina has held many leadership positions, to include her official start in public relations on her own as Vendor and Sponsor Coordinator for a ten (10) city “Gotta Talk About It!” National Mall Tour, for the non-profit organization Saving Promise, which is a National Domestic Violence Awareness organization and participation on the planning committee for the historic National Trans Visibility March on DC in September 2019, served as a Cis-gender supporter; contributing publicist. Worked in the capacity of DC metro area liaison as it pertained to media/public/community relations strategy and execution during the first Boris Lawrence Henson “Can We Talk” conference; founded by acclaimed actress Taraji P. Henson, which focused on removing the stigma of seeking mental health treatment amongst African-Americans. Served as a Membership Ambassador for the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce, helping to connect small business owners with the tools and resources available through their local chamber; she is the DC Metro area chapter representative for the organization S.U.E. (Sisters United Enterprise) and is currently amongst the 2019 Fall Resident class of Creatives for the 202 Creates Resident program which is the Mayor of DC’s initiative to support the cities bustling creative business owner community. Thomasina also serves as Co-Executive Director of the Miss Northern Virginia Scholarship Pageant which is a non-profit preliminary to Miss Virginia and onto Miss America; as well as a consultant for the Miss USA Pageant a preliminary to the Miss Universe Organization.
Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised abroad and in the US as an "Army Brat", Thomasina was exposed to various cultures during her youth. She has settled in the DC Metro area since 1999, has two adult children, Christopher and Saundra and four (4) grandchildren Camden Washington, Imani, Canaan and Israel Perkins
